Every Friday, Perfect Daily Grind rounds up the top coffee industry news from the week.

Editor’s note

It’s a bullish market for coffee at the moment.

Since the beginning of the month, the ICE arabica contract for December delivery has risen by over a quarter. The ICE robusta contract for November delivery has also increased by almost 30% during the same period – the highest levels for both arabica and robusta prices since mid-May 2025.

Incidents of frost in some areas of Minas Gerais and São Paulo have driven up futures. Brazilian associations claim the damage appears to be limited, however, and is unlikely to impact the 2025-26 coffee crop, most of which has already been harvested.

Tariffs also continue to compound the situation. Bloomberg recently reported that US buyers are “shunning fresh deals” with Brazilian sellers after 50% import duties took effect earlier this month. Instead, they are seeking cheaper alternatives from Mexico, Peru, Vietnam, and Honduras, according to sources.

Brazilian Agriculture Minister Carlos Fávaro is confident that the Trump administration will exempt coffee from the 50% tariffs, but there is still no confirmation from the US government.

For now, it seems the C price could keep climbing.
